अद्वैत वेदान्त
Advaita Vedanta - The Path to Liberation
We Are All One
What is Advaita Vedanta?
Advaita means "not two" - teaching that everything is ONE. All of us, and everything in the universe, share the same divine consciousness called Brahman.
Imagine the ocean: many waves, but all just water. We appear different, but we're all expressions of the same reality. Realizing this brings permanent happiness!
ब्रह्म सत्यं जगन्मिथ्या जीवो ब्रह्मैव नापरः
"Brahman alone is real, the world is changing/temporary, you are none other than Brahman"
Four Goals of Human Life
Kalika Peetham teaches balanced living through these four goals:
Living ethically and doing what's right. Following moral principles described in the Dharma Shastras (ancient texts on ethics) that guide and protect us, especially during difficult times.
Money is important - but must be earned ethically! The Artha Shastra teaches:
• Earn money honestly
• Practice financial discipline
• Save for stability
• Use wealth responsibly
Fulfilling desires is natural - but worldly pleasures are temporary and decrease over time. So we should gradually move toward higher spiritual goals that bring lasting joy.
The ultimate goal - freedom from suffering and the cycle of birth and death. Achieved through knowledge, devotion, discipline, and realizing who you truly are.
Shanmata: Six Ways to God
षण्मत उपासना
Adi Shankaracharya created a system where people with different temperaments can worship different deities, but all paths lead to the same Supreme Reality.
The destroyer of ego
The preserver, divine compassion
Divine Mother, creative energy
Sun God, spiritual illumination
Remover of obstacles
Divine warrior, courage

Sri Vidya
श्री विद्या - The Integrated Spiritual System
Sri Vidya is an advanced spiritual practice that combines all six forms of worship (Shanmata) into one integrated system.
It emphasizes Shakti Sadhana - worship of the Divine Mother as the dynamic creative energy of the universe.
This practice supports both material prosperity AND spiritual growth - recognizing that you can fulfill worldly responsibilities while progressing spiritually.
शिवशक्त्यैक्यरूपिणी
"The union of Shiva and Shakti"
Ultimate reality manifests as both transcendent consciousness (Shiva) and dynamic creative power (Shakti) - two aspects of one Supreme Reality.
Kamakshi Vidya Temple
Special Symbolism:
- The name Arakkonam is associated with Shadkona (six-pointed star ✡)
- Shadkona represents the union of Shiva (△) and Shakti (▽)
- Symbol of divine energy and cosmic balance - perfect place for Shakti worship
Practitioners at this temple work toward both worldly success and spiritual realization through Sri Vidya sadhana.
Advaita's Message of Equality
"All This Is Indeed Brahman"
Differences of caste, creed, gender, wealth, or social status are only surface-level. At the deepest level, all are equal - all are manifestations of the one Supreme Reality.
"When you realize the same divine consciousness dwells in everyone's heart, how can you hate anyone? How can you discriminate? This is Advaita's revolutionary message of universal equality and love."
Whether king or laborer, scholar or farmer, male or female - the innermost Self (Atman) is identical with Brahman. True understanding naturally brings compassion and service to all.
The Path to Liberation
From Bhaja Govindam by Adi Shankaracharya
Company of the wise
Non-attachment to worldly things
Freedom from delusion
Freedom while living!
सत्सङ्गत्वे निस्सङ्गत्वं निस्सङ्गत्वे निर्मोहत्वम्
A clear progression: Wise company → Detachment → Clear mind → Stability → Liberation in this very life!
